The Met Gala 2025:
The Met Gala 2025, held at the iconic Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, was a breathtaking convergence of history, fashion, and identity. The museum’s grand stairs transformed into a tapestry of silks, sequins, and stories as the theme drew from The Met’s groundbreaking exhibit, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style”. This year’s dress code, “Tailored For You,” honored the art of Black dandyism a cultural expression that reclaims tailoring and elegance as a form of defiance, self-definition, and pride, particularly among Black men.
In an unprecedented moment of global glamour, Indian celebrities took center stage and turned the red carpet into a runway of heritage. Shah Rukh Khan made his much-anticipated Met debut in a regal Sabyasachi couture ensemble, dripping in old-world sophistication. Priyanka Chopra Jonas wore a sculpted Balmain gown paired with shimmering Bvlgari jewels, balancing fierce modernity with timeless allure. Isha Ambani brought the richness of Indian textiles to the forefront in a custom Anamika Khanna creation, embroidered with age-old crafts and techniques.
Kiara Advani’s Gaurav Gupta ensemble was an ode to mythology and motherhood her gown featured a radiant gold corset and ethereal draping that mirrored divine femininity. Diljit Dosanjh radiated Punjabi pride in a Prabal Gurung outfit, complete with traditional Golecha jewels, a matching turban, and a ceremonial Kripan a proud symbol of Sikh identity. Mona Patel stunned in a Thom Browne ensemble accented with innovative doughnut-shaped accessories, proving that avant-garde could still carry cultural depth.
Designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee himself wore a hand-quilted oversized court jacket and sherwani in hand-dyed Murshidabad silk, exemplifying luxury through craftsmanship.
