SUPER BOYS OF MALEGAON
Every true cinema lover has the same dream—to make a film with their friends. Not for the fame or money, but for the pure joy of creating something bigger than themselves. Something that stays forever. For the shared madness, the memories, and the love for the craft. Superboys of Malegaon is that dream come true. The film captures how cinema can become an escape, a way to cope, and most importantly, a bond between friends.
Superboys of Malegaon directed by Reema Kagti starring Adarsh Gourav, Vineet Kumar Singh, Shashank Arora, and Anuj Singh Duhan, is a heartfelt homage to the 2008 documentary Superman of Malegaon, which was about a group of amateur filmmaker friends trying to make a superhero film—with no money, no studio, no formal training—just a camera, a few props, and a whole lot of imagination. It shows the struggles, the madness, and the pure fun of that journey. The film takes you back to the 90s; from the fashion to the cinematography, everything reminds you of the freshness of that time. As a regular film watcher, there’s a special kind of joy in watching films about films. It’s like a mirror reflecting our own love for the medium. This movie offers something that’s rare in today’s cinema: soul. It feels like you’re watching your own friends trying to shoot a movie in your backyard, using bedsheets as capes and bikes for chase scenes.
Superboys of Malegaon is the perfect mix of well-timed comedy, internal conflicts, emotions, and the dream of becoming something greater. At its heart, it’s about dreams—dreams that sometimes feel feeble. But when you keep trying and you have the right people by your side, no dream is too far from becoming reality
